Mekotekan is a traditional ritual ceremony at Munggu village in Bali island. Mekotekan or locally call as Gerebeg Mekotek is a ritual by hundred of Munggu villagers, usually by young and old men who wearing the Balinese traditional clothes. They walk toward the temple around the village and each bring a long wooden stick approximately three to four meters. In the tip of the village they all stick together with each other hand held to endeavor such a towering triangular building, and one or two people enthusiastic try to climb up to upper of sticks towering. They will fall dawn to the ground when the stick separated back. This purpose of Gerebeg Mekotek ritual is to prevent the Munggu village from diseases. Mekotekan is usually celebrate on Kuningan day, or every six months according to Balinese Calendar.
